This is a log of the improvements we are making to the Product. If you want to see progress as a business, come here

May 6th, 2021 ~ 0.2.5 - the plan starts

A number of new ground-laying features come with this release. We're starting to make some of the components of our longevity plan in the product. We're starting with shorter term goals and user profile, as the starting point to collecting, tracking and improving key health metrics and meaningful life and health goals in the mid and long term spans.

New features & updates

  • User profile to update basic user data, update picture.
  • The ability to re-level the exercise scoring. Our users start to track progress as a result of their leveling.
  • Weekly challenges. Achieve them by doing a variety of activities with Rosita and by adopting healthier habits.
  • We provide our users with the basis of our medical and physiotherapeutic exercise plan. We show evidence where we have evidence.
  • We revamped the onboarding process to allow users to anonymously test Rosita. This will lower the bar to get to know the service and it's benefits. Full authentication will be required to persist the data, access health tracking and use the same profile on multiple devices.
  • The itinerary screen now allows for better direct access to completed and currently open activities.
  • In-App reviews are asked from happy users occassionally.

Bug Fixes

  • Some users had crashes on iPads opening the app, that now are solved.
  • Minor bugs and stability issues fixed.

April 2021 ~ 0.2.4 - platform upgrades

Rosita was becoming a bit too slow and lagging bit behind on the tools and coding infrastructure, so an upgrade was required. All internals got updated to the latest versions, improving support for latest devices, fixing a number of current and future errors. As a result, we also obtained a smaller and more efficient App, which will also result in using less memory on our user's phones. This is specially important for the part of our users using lower end devices.

March 26th, 2021 ~ 0.2.3 - πŸŒΌπŸŒΈπŸŒΊπŸ’ Spring equinox release

Whoops, we forgot to update this for 0.2.1 and 0.2.2, so let's pick it up from here. This 0.2.3 comes with a lot of love and attention to details, and Quality of Life improvements.

New features & updates

  • Surveys at beginning and end of activities, enables storing and monitoring exercise information. This is going to be very useful to add numbers and binary questions.
  • Heavy work on the video on demand infrastructure: we created adaptive versions of the videos, in HLS, to adapt to each user's bitrates for all bandwidths. We also moved our delivery infrastructure to AWS and it is super fast now.
  • Chromecast is in πŸ“Ί ! You can now watch Rosita on TV and all its glory.
  • A beautiful Today section that will help you navigate our LIVE videos
  • A beautiful tomorrow section to make sure you don't miss what's coming
  • Redesign of the video UX, better commenting section, etc.
  • Itineraries now show progress and whether you have something missing to do
  • We will start sending some intelligent push notifications when relevant
  • Tags on activities on the feed, so that you know what kind of exercise you will do at a glance

Bug Fixes

  • Many problems with iPads are now solved.
  • Better logic for ordering activities.
  • The Chatbot had some errors whereby chats were being accumulated on wrong days.
  • Lots of refactoring and some ugly bugs that could crash the app by turning it landscape.

February 24, 2021 ~ 0.2.0 - Year of the Bull πŸ‚

We have being so busy lately releasing improvements, fixes, caring for the experience and trying to build some delight for our users, but no single improvement looked big enough to merit a minor version upgrade. Enough tiny water drops can break a rock. So along with the just-launched Chinese New Year, the one of the Bull nonetheless, we celebrate by turning the digits of our minor version a notch. We're 0.2, people! 🧧 🐲🧨

New features & updates

  • πŸ“± iPad and Android tablets support, fixed and improved. The previous version brought official support, but it was not good enough. Landscape support was needed to attend to classes with the most comfort. The cards in the feed needed to adapt to the fact that they're placed in a 2-columned grid, so we used the staggered views that other popular card-based layouts successfully use. Full screen video is now supported in landscape mode. A few UI defects were polished. While we're not entirely happy yet and more improvements will come, we are now confident we have something our users can enjoy.
  • πŸ‘οΈ Improved how the app works with larger fonts. Software development world, we need to talk about accessibility. And I don't mean compliance with some standard or rule, but actually making sure our products can be used by users with eyesight problems. We've being playing within the team for a while with our own mobile devices set on font size "largest", and we're horrified. Almost any major app run properly on that mode, many are literally unusable or broken. Our users with just some eyesight problem deserve better. More on this topic on following versions.
  • In-activity surveys. We want your feedback, we want to measure your progress before and after each or many of the activities you do. Rosita will now ask you, with an improved and gorgeous design.
  • ... and a myriad of bugs fixed and speed and stability improvements added.

February 10, 2021 ~ 0.1.30

πŸ“£ Big updates on Rosita! Some of the ideas we've being tinkering with the last weeks are finally prime to showtime. We put lots of love on this release and we'll expect you to love it as well! Let us know your thoughts at hello@heartsradiant.com.

We have added several new content itineraries over the past weeks, including tai-chi πŸ₯‹, meditation πŸ§˜πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ , dance πŸ•ΊπŸ» and even fencing 🀺! Much more to come next.

New features & updates

  • πŸ’¬ Rosita can present herself as a chatbot now. Rosita will inform you about how to improve your lifestyle, how to make the most out of the app, will recommend you activities and particular itineraries for you. Ah, and she's also well versed in the Gif language!
  • πŸ“± iPad and Android tablets support! It's early, not pixel perfect, but this is something long requested by the ones of you that want to watch the activities on a bigger screen. Next step, the cinema screen!
  • Welcome itinerary, with introductory content as part of the welcoming of our new users.
  • Quite a lot of UI improvements to improve the overall UX, from going full screen at some places, to fonts, colors, style ... to the tiniest margin. The UX is the product.
  • Some internal infrastructure improvements to get the performance and speed you all deserve.

Bug fixes

  • We crashed several long-standing πŸ› bugs and a few new ones.

January 28, 2021 ~ 0.1.25 - 0.1.29

Hi there! Long time without an update, we've being busy planning and shipping.

Our UI starts to look better with each release. New colors, new waiting rooms, new buttons, new font ... just a peak of the new designs our designers have in their desks!

Our UX is also improving steadily, with the valuable insights of many of our more active users. Thanks! We get back the recommended activity of the day, so users can better understand what's the most important thing they need to do, according to their exercise level, and don't get lost among other optional content. Feed and sorting activities and itineraries also got some attention and care.

We have focused also on diagnosing some hideous bugs and crashes that a few of our users are facing. There has being quite a few performance improvements that should provide a more stable and fast experience to everyone.

For the next release, we are building a bigger new feature with all of our love. Stay tuned!

December 23, 2020 ~ 0.1.24 Christmas release

Just in time before Christmas, some updates for you as a present.

We are steadily adding more content in the form of optional itineraries. Some of them work in a sequential manner, some of them are recurrent sets of exercises, some operate as a calendar of events. The feed was improved with feedback from previous releases, and now sorting and what appears in the feed and what is hidden is designed to maximize value and avoid confusion. Itineraries will be always visible in the feed, so you can revisit some of the activities you already completed. Another round of bugs were fixed.

Longevity education classes with Dr. FernΓ‘ndez TorΓ‘n and Breathing rehabilitation after Covid are already in Rosita.

We are proud enough of this version to add sharing capabilities. Our users can now easily send a message to Whatsapp friends and others, to invite them to download the App.

December 11, 2020 ~ 0.1.22 πŸ›€οΈ content itineraries

This is an important update for Rosita, since it enables the delivery of optional content itineraries that will result in a more personalized experience for our users.

Our users will be able to subscribe to a number of programs, classes, trainings and others according to their interests. Some programs will part of the core of Rosita and will be always present, such as exercise and training, but others will be entirely optional such as some dance classes or martial arts, education, pain relieve or others. Besides, users get the ability to consume content at their own pace now, as opposed to only calendarized daily events as before. Education videos, for instance, will be accessible in a similar way to other online courses - a sort of seniors University. Other itineraries will take the form of periodic personal video reminders, for instance in the case of personal stretching for pain relief programs.

Rosita will start adding more content programs soon, starting with Breathing Rehab Training program - very relevant nowadays -, Education on Longevity, Pain management and others.

The feed got adapted to accommodate these new content streams, breaking in four distinct sections. Events happening live now, activities for today, activities for tomorrow - as a preview - and the itineraries list. Itineraries have a description and are also able to be unsubscribed.

Design got also a bit cleaner, as a preview of what's to come in the following weeks.

At last, we keep improving the reliability and performance of the Apps.

December 2, 2020 ~ 0.1.21 ⚑zap edition - part II⚑

This is mainly a bugfix & performance release. Some of our users with lower end devices kept reporting intermittent crashes, so we had to roll up out sleeves and dig even deeper into the internals of Android to understand what's going on there. We found some of the root causes and fixed them, and we're eager to ship this one to prove our progress with real user usage. As by-products, we updated infrastructure, switched to a new and better error reporting system, optimized images ... all to ensure a a fast and reliable experience for our users.

November 20, 2020 ~ 0.1.20 ⚑zap edition ⚑

This was a hard update to release. Lower end devices were having issues running our video classes and activity feed, due to memory problems, so we needed to dig down the technical internals and tighten a few bolts and screws. Memory management and performance is always a fun business for engineers and this time was not an exception. We're happy to ensure our users with lower end devices are still able to access our range of classes and content!

New features & updates

  • β• Live events got a few upgrades, specially a proper waiting room.
  • πŸ“Ί We are testing the TV integration using a Chromecast with beta testers. Watching your dance class on the big screen of your living room or meditating from the sofa are now options πŸ§˜πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ•ΊπŸ»

Bug fixes

  • Memory-related crashes were fixed all along the app
  • Live events were not properly updating on the activity feed and that caused potentially missing your live class! We fixed that.

November 2, 2020 ~ 0.1.19 πŸŽƒ spooky edition πŸŽƒ

Super update. Lots of minor and major UX features packed in one single release, specially in the frailty and exercise areas. With love, 🧑

New features & updates

  • ⏸️ We added the ability to pause a class. Do you need to rest a bit, drink some water, go to the bathroom or take that phone call? No worries, stop and continue in a few minutes.
  • πŸ€“ We added an extra step before jumping straight to break some sweat into a class: read descriptions, contraindications, materials needed, what benefits you will obtain ... and go.
  • πŸ™ˆ Chat in activities is fun. But it can also get in the way of the video. We added the ability to hiding it.
  • ⏳ Video classes now have a remaining time counter. Live activities have a number of online people connected. General UX improvements on video side.
  • πŸ“… We added daily messages to tell you what's today about for you: is it a cardio day? or maybe you need to train equilibrium now? small important steps to better recommendations and better longevity.

Changes

  • πŸŽ₯ We improved the live streaming system for much better video and audio quality.

Bug fixes

  • We fixes a long standing annoying bug πŸ› were some video classes stopped early, before getting to the stretching phase. Also, you can really skip in-video polls without answering.
  • Performance issues identified and fixed, potentially fixing some of the crashes we are seeing πŸ™‡.

October 26, 2020 ~ 0.1.18

Changes

We start providing personalized recommendations for each user, based on exercise levelling results. While you can always perform any activity proposed by Rosita - they are all designed to be safe for you -, now we will help you choose in case you doubt among the options in the list.

For this purpose, we modified the sorting, improved the design and extended the time certain activities are available for you throughout the day.

We also fixed some minor bugs and performance issues experienced by some users.

October 13, 2020 ~ 0.1.17 πŸŽ‰ going public πŸŽ‰

Changes

  • πŸ“£ Rosita left open beta and reached production public in Google play
  • We started to review the App, considering the people with larger displays and fonts setup due to eyesight limitations. We want to serve everyone.
  • We cleaned some permission requests. We only ask for what we really need.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed some errors when signing up when text size is set to maximum.

October 6, 2020 ~ 0.1.16 public version candidate

Changes

  • πŸ“£ Exercise schedule now open the whole day. Take your preferred class at your own pace. We will recommend you timely about when it's best and which one to choose.
  • If you did the exercise leveling (you should), we'll recommend you the activities of that level - they will always appear first to you.
  • Our splash screen now has some motivating rolling advice.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a ubiquitous bug in app upload after splash wasn't loading locale from remote config fast enough.

September 30, 2020 ~ 0.1.15 public version candidate

We are even more excited with this release than with the previous. We've being waiting to send it to Google for a while now and we can't wait to see our user's feedback.

New features & updates

  • πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ€ΈπŸΏβ€β™‚οΈ We added an exercise leveling process that allow you to self-assess their status in 3 levels. With that level, we can recommend you activities that are more adapted to you.

Changes

  • We simplified the login process. We don't need to ask you to choose between login and register, we already know if you are onboard from your phone number!
  • We simplified the signup process as well. Less questions, more relevant, a more pleasant experience 😊.
  • We recorded again all audio aids. More quality and a clearer message for Rosita's voice.
  • Rosita now has quite a few of gorgeous illustrations. We really hope you will love them as we do β™₯️β™₯️β™₯️
  • App user interface received intense polishing after the redesign from previous version. Too many improvements to enumerate here, typography, logos, shadows, animations, colors, margins ... quality and simplicity for a satisfying User Experience.

Removals

  • Rosita is now just a feed of activities recommended for you. We removed the associations, groups and profile section, to avoid confusion while we work on the new profile. Stay tuned!

Bug fixes

  • App should be fairly stable for most of our users by now. Dozens of errors were detected and fixed, some stability issues as well.

September 8, 2020 ~Β Redesign and 0.1.14 beta

We're very excited with this release, and we hope our users will be too 😍

We've been working full steam to improve our code base πŸ€–, hunt down bugs 🐞 and, most importantly, redesign our user's experience. Now that we have a few hundred people onboard, the initial feedback has been pure gold for us.

New features & updates

  • ✨ We have a new design! Fonts, colors, buttons, cards ... are feeling more professional, more soft and - hopefully - more usable. We're actively working on this now, so expect bigger changes and improvements coming in the close future.
  • Activity cards have now a 3-color scheme to signal state. Not 100% ready yet, but working towards it.
  • Rosita just got a new look, and we β™₯️ it. A new App icon for now, more beautifulness coming next.
  • Exercise activities now have a difficulty level from 1 to 3, to allow for users to pick the ones right for them.
  • Tapping on Home button will refresh the Activity list. This gimmick will hopefully be clear UX for our users and temporarily solve sync issues with the timeline.
  • Although not a focus right now, performance was improved in some parts of the App. A faster lighter experience is always a better experience.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug where activities appeared duplicated or more in the timeline.
  • Fixed long names overflowing the user lists.
  • Fixed a number of bugs all around.

September 1, 2020 ~Β 0.1.13+2 beta

Timeline and activity general rules for access, visibility and sorting changed. We implemented a "relevance scoring" approach, where a particular activity is more relevant to a particular user depending on a set of different conditions, such as how popular is it among her friends, its match with your level or interest and many others. This is part of our secret sauce and will improve over time.

For the moment, general rules are you can only access activities for the current day, and for two hours after an activity has started. This openly reproduces happens in a gym and its schedule of classes, leaving some room for early birds and laggards.

August 19, 2020 ~Β 0.1.13 beta

We needed to release a new quick version to improve our product usage tracking capabilities, in order to better understand how are users use the product, what works and what not.

August 18, 2020 ~Β 0.1.10-0.1.12 beta

We've been busy fixing a series of bugs we found during beta testing, improving the code and the tech, and then testing a bit more.

New features & updates

  • The live video quality was improved. If connectivity is good, then we'll broadcast in 720p. Niiiice!
  • Added numeric polls, so we can ask our users questions that need to be answered with a number from a range. This allows us to better refine the experience before, during and after certain activities for our seniors; in particular, to create health status profiles that our experts will match with the excerside levels during user onboarding.
  • Unifying polls experience across the current 3 kinds of activities.
  • Version code was added to the footer, so we can better assist our users by knowing the exact version they're using.
  • Splitted the analytics trackers between staging and production environments. Good data results in good service.
  • User notifications for upcoming activities moved from 15min before to "your activity is about to start".
  • The codebase was reviewed and improved, while we flex our muscles with the technology and improve our speed. Good nice features to come soon!
  • Targets Android 29, as per Google requirements.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug that prevented the use of the keyboard to chat on smaller devices.
  • Fixed a regression that made videos not show properly.
  • Fix a bunch of bugs related to the different implementations.
  • Fix the association search bar, that was causing some errors in small devices and also working weirdly in edge cases.
  • Dozens of sync / async issues fixed. Some were already bugs, some might be in the future under certains circumstances, some might never be. Fixed all anyway.

July 29, 2020 ~Β 0.1.8-0.1.9 beta

We are now public beta on Google Play! πŸŽ‰πŸ•πŸΎπŸ•ΊπŸΎ

Although we don't expect senior users swarming at Rosita just yet, truth is anyone can download it now and tell their friends just now.

July 28, 2020 ~Β 0.1.7 beta candidate

Phone now remains unlocked during video play. Before that, the phone would block in the middle of your yoga class! More UI details and minor 🐞.

July 23, 2020 ~Β 0.1.6 beta candidate

Going through the alpha testing feedback, smashing some πŸ› and making some obvious UX improvements.

July 20, 2020 ~Β 0.1.5 alpha

We're now prepared to go through Google Play's alpha review! We also processed quite a few feedback items from early user testing.

New features & updates

Unifying video consuming experience:

  • Both recorded and live sessions can now be watched in portrait and landscape mode.
  • Chat is only possible in portrait, since it becomes quite unusable in landscape.
  • Recorded sessions will be recorded in landscape for now, so that's the primary mode.

Activity notifications now link directly to the activity instead of just opening the App.

Improve the keyboard integration.

Bug fixes

  • More user testing, more πŸžπŸ•·οΈto catch.

July 16, 2020 ~Β 0.1.4 alpha candidate

Mainly a bug fixing πŸ›πŸž release, after some user testing 🀸🏽. We improved the internals of the coding, to allow us to catch more bugs later. At last, we reduced the events that caused our users streams to update - they were just too many and the experience was kind of unexpected.

July 13, 2020 ~Β 0.1.2-0.1.3 alpha candidate

Big news here, we now have the ability to stream recorded videos, as in the opposite to live streaming.

New features & updates

  • Recorded streams was a requested feature to allow for proper recorded, post-production and polishing of some of the classes by the professionals. This release brings the first attempt at this, with a very simple interface yet.
  • Activity stream now refreshes automatically if any change is made on the servers, without user interaction, allowing for a better and more synchronized experience.
  • πŸ‘‹ Settings button βš™οΈ at Activities list is gone for now. We have no profile yet, so you can just uninstall for the moment. We get a cleaner UI this way.

Bug fixes

  • Navigating back and forth on the app was a big confusing and buggy. Sometimes even a back action would just close the app. Fixing some of these.
  • Activity list after signup was always empty, creating a poor first impression. That is fixed, now showing activities on signup.

June 23, 2020 ~Β 0.1.1 alpha candidate

Mainly a bug fix release, after the initial feedback from testers. Also, we need to keep polishing our infrastructure.

New features & updates

  • While Rosita will probably be a paying app in the future, we decided to start by making it free while in alpha until we properly think about the right model and price for its awesomeness.

Bug fixes

  • Errors uploading pictures, app-crashes , permission allowing issues ... all fixed.
  • Our error tracking systems were not doing a great job. We keep perfecting our eyes and ears on the product.
  • Oh my, and I thought browser compatibility was a hassle, welcome to the device farm world! Our users' phones will come on all kinds of screen sizes, shapes, OS versions ... and that needs to be dealt with. Our team is flexing their mussles to support them all (or most).

June 17, 2020 ~Β 0.1.0 alpha candidate

Hallo, long time no see! We've been busy crushing through our roadmap tasks to be ready to launch our first friends-only super secret pre-alpha version. Lots of hype there. Nails being bitten. Stay tuned!

New features & updates

  • Signup process for seniors revisited. If you're alone, we'll call you to help you get up.
  • Hosts can now see Poll results on their streamed activities. They can also see the number of followers they have on their live event.
  • We've got our first version of our "smart timeline", the seed of the secret sauce activity recommendation system. It's not super smart yet, but it does the job.

Bug fixes

A lot of things move when you have a lot of moving parts, and you move one. By moving I mean breaking. We're quickly setting up the means for a more stable product every time.

We have now a bug-free release version. Promise. Almost for certain. We'll see 🀞🏽.

May 24, 2020

Fixed several bugs that were either blocking or sufficiently disturbing to not be able to launch. We are going down a "launch release" list of bugs and small improvements.

Bug fixes

  • Stop annoying signup sounds
  • Stop sounding after moving to next screen
  • Screens for age and level of health
  • Handle keyboard - numbers

May 18, 2020

New features

  • New signup process for seniors that covers health and happiness
  • Virtual living room for images with voice call
  • Counter of people live watching or on the call
  • Improved design of activities on time line for easier reading

Bug fixes

In the activity time line, double counting yourself.

Microphone on and off with the wrong colors.

Some non dynamic texts in the virtual living room.

Several bugs in the signup with sounds that went to the following screen or sounded twice.

We have started this log today, so let's assume what we had until today was the basic app :). We might fill this up at some point for completion.
